Mushroom Gravy
Mushroom Gravy
Plant-based mushroom gravy to serve alongside classic holiday favorites! Enjoy over mashed potatoes, biscuits, and/or other dishes.
Ingredients
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 1 1/2 cups vegetable broth
- 1 tbsp oil or vegan butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dry thyme leaves
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat oil or butter in a pan over medium-high heat.
- Add mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes. Stir occasionally.
- Add flour and cook for 2 minutes. Stir occasionally. Add a small amount of vegetable broth if sticking occurs.
- Add vegetable broth, mix well, and bring to a boil.
- Lower heat to medium. Add nutritional yeast, black pepper, garlic powder, thyme, and salt. Mix well and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Serve over mashed potatoes and/or biscuits.
Notes
This recipe tastes great over our Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Vegan Biscuits!
For a more creamy texture, add 1/2 cup of plant-based milk and puree the gravy after cooking is complete.
