Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1/3 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cups vegetable broth or water
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a pot over medium-high heat.
  • Add onion and garlic. Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add tomatoes, salt, pepper, and sugar. Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add broth/water and bring to a boil.
  • Turn heat to medium and cook for 15 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and puree contents with immersion blender.
  • Garnish with basil and serve hot.
